An honest truth about who I am

I've never trusted authority, so I became a journalist. In my head what I do is so ridiculously boring, but at the core of it is always a sense that those in authority will often begin to work against the people they claim to help.
But because I am a journalist I keep most of my thoughts to my head, and eliminate friendships because I might risk someone hearing an idea that passes through my head.
Since the election I've cut at least four people from my life, and likely won't ever talk to them again. I've done this my entire life.
Is it worth it?
As long as I keep getting paid to write, yes.
So let's get to work. The work is all that has ever mattered. There is nothing else to me but the words you get to see.
