Saturday and the future

The calendar says Saturday as does my internal rhythm machine. I'm watching Premiership football and going through my computer. My journal says that today is one where I have to get "productive noodling" done today which means it's a day where I don't want any specific tasks. I just want to get through the day and rest as much as I can so I can prepare for another intense week.

There's a photograph to begin the post because this noodling has taken the form of going through my computer and looking at various files on the "desktop" which readers in the future may not understand. The world I live in now will be unlike the world years and decades to come.

The country where I live doesn't know what to do with itself. We don't live in the world of the past, and department stores like Roses in Pantops Shopping Center aren't going to make it to the near future. This takes away jobs for some people.

The world of this moment is more dangerous than the world of a month ago because the people who are now in charge have a very different view of what the federal government should be. For decades, the people who are now in charge have stated clearly their goal was to eliminate as much as they could. We're going to see how that works out.

I write about it as much as I can, and these days I'm somewhat paralyzed until I get to work on doing what I can to capture some of the now. I don't have a large audience, but I've tried my best to slowly grow one. I'm make a living doing this, though I feel very vulnerable at the moment. In my life, I've lost more than I have won, but those losses have made me stronger than I was. I am alive and I know this and I am not sure what I will end up doing.

For now, my job is to continue to clean the desktop. I could very easily just put all the files into a storage folder called CLEAN UP PROJECT which at this point does not function in that manner. But perhaps today I will go through it.

I updated the cvillepedia page for the Pantops Shopping Center with a picture that's like the one above, but from the different direction. I'm going to delete both from my desktop. I want to get as much information as I have into cvillepedia, because this is what I have done for 16 years now. I also wanted to link a story I wrote for C-Ville Weekly. I want what I do to matter, even though it feels like it's all just a lark.

In any case. The day must continue on.
