Put in my place

I recently quit cvillepedia again.

This time for real.

I wrote a post for my newsletter that the new executive director of the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society thought should have been reviewed by her first. \

My impulse was to quit. And so I did.

I will not be controlled by people in a management position like that unless they are paying me. I dealt with kind of control at Charlottesville Tomorrow for many years. I was not allowed to freelance.

Now I make a living writing stories about the community.

I'm not so sure I want to keep doing that because I lack the freedom to be my own person. I must hide my opinions and prevent myself from having one.

But I will state publicly I will not work for people who seek to control what I say, especially when my labor is involved.

So a website that I was part of for many years will likely fade away and die.

And that has me thinking - maybe this is the beginning of the next phase?

What if this puts me on the pathway for a new place?
