Unsolicited new idea for Doctor Who's next series!

An entire clip series where the entity known as the Doctor must confront their existence, much of which has been filmed before. Go with the Billie Piper entrance right into this into some sort of a staging universe, given that the Doctor's entire existence has has been put on hold.

The show picks up with the very odd regeneration we saw, and some entity very quickly sets the stage. The format would be something akin to Mystery Science Theater 3000, with a framing device that analyzed the entirety of everything we viewers might possibly know about this fictional character.

I write this while watching a Third Doctor episode and the low-tech nature of it is played so straight because in 1972, there was only so much technology. The show has always captured advances in filmmaking technology.

There's talk of a hard reboot, but the longevity of this show is what makes it so interesting for so many.

This clip show would be fairly meta and somehow the production values would need to try to transcend.

But, after watching an animated version of the First Doctor's Celestial Toymaker series, it's clear that's where this all picks up.

Somewhere in this becomes a sense that perhaps more lo-fi shows could be made. The pace of the 1970's show is perhaps intolerable but there are parts of the stories worth revisiting. And perhaps new stories could be told without a need for expensive effects, dependent on good story-telling.

Goodness. I so wish I could spend the rest of my life working on this show.

We need stories that imagine how things could be from different perspectives and that's what Doctor Who can do very well
